Community Guidelines
Effective date: May 1, 2026
PlantaeLight is a community of growers — hobbyists, professionals, students, anyone with a plant and a curiosity. The Feed, Explore, Profile, recipe-sharing, and rating features only work because people show up to share what they've learned. These guidelines exist so the community stays useful and welcoming.
By posting recipes, ratings, reviews, profile information, or any other content in the app, you agree to follow these rules. They apply equally to public content (anything visible to other users) and to anything you submit through our reporting or support channels.
1. Be civil
- No hate speech, slurs, harassment, or threats — including in usernames, display names, recipe names, reviews, or bios.
- No content that targets people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
- Disagreement is fine. Insults, doxxing, and pile-ons are not.
2. Keep it on-topic and honest
- Recipes, ratings, and reviews should reflect your actual experience growing the plant. Don't fake reviews to boost your own recipes or sink someone else's.
- Don't impersonate other users, businesses, or public figures.
- Don't post unrelated promotional content — your recipe is not a billboard.
3. No illegal content
- Recipes for cultivating plants whose cultivation is illegal in your jurisdiction are your responsibility, not ours. We will remove anything we're legally required to.
- No content that depicts, encourages, or facilitates the sexual exploitation of minors. Reports of this kind are escalated to NCMEC and law enforcement immediately.
- No content that incites violence, terrorism, or self-harm.
4. Keep it safe for everyone
- No sexually explicit content, gore, or shock imagery.
- No content involving minors that includes their full name, school, exact location, or other identifying details. PlantaeLight is for users 13 and older — see our Privacy Policy.
- Don't share personal information (real names, addresses, phone numbers, etc.) about other users without their consent.
5. Reporting and enforcement
How fast we act: Reports of objectionable, abusive, or illegal content are reviewed within 24 hours. We take action — remove the content, suspend the user, or both — as soon as we confirm the report. Urgent reports (CSAM, imminent threats) are escalated immediately.
If you see something that violates these guidelines:
- Report it in the app. Tap the user's profile or the recipe → Report. Pick a reason and add context if you can.
- Block the user. Blocking removes them from your feed, hides your content from them, and prevents future contact. Profile → Block.
- Or email us at support@plantaelight.com. Include the username, recipe ID, or screenshot if you have one.
Consequences scale with severity and history:
- First-time minor violation — content removed, user notified.
- Repeated or serious violation — temporary suspension; account features (publishing, commenting, following) disabled.
- Severe or illegal violation — permanent account ban and, where applicable, referral to law enforcement.
Account holders can appeal a moderation action by emailing support@plantaelight.com within 30 days of the action. We respond to appeals within 7 days.
6. Automated filtering
To prevent the most obvious abuse, we run an automated content filter on usernames, display names, recipe names (when published publicly), bios, ratings/reviews, and reports. The filter blocks slurs and known abusive patterns at write time. It is not a substitute for human moderation — repeat reports always reach us.
7. Changes to these guidelines
We update these guidelines as the community grows. Material changes will be announced via the app and on this page. The "Effective date" above always reflects the current version.
